Happy Sundaes Ice Cream Making

An “Apprentice” style challenge where teams invent, create and market  a brand-new ice cream flavour!

Similar to the kind of challenge seen on “The Apprentice”, teams invent and produce a brand-new ice cream flavour!

Teams begin by inventing their new flavour. With a wide range of ingredients (including vegan and dairy free) teams can let their imaginations run wild. The more adventurous can go mad with the not-so-obvious ingredients, in the style of Heston Blumenthal’s gourmet egg and bacon ice cream!

Once decided, teams put their ingredients into a recipe and make their product, using top quality ice cream making machines.

Teams then develop their ice cream brand by giving it a catchy name and designing and making the packaging.

Ingredients and packaging materials are priced, so teams will need to keep an eye on costs and decide how they will price their product to make the best profit.

Teams then develop their marketing plan and must decide who their product is aimed at, how they are going to appeal to their target market, what USPs their product has, where it will be sold and at what RRP.

Teams then pitch their product, brand and marketing strategy in a presentation to the judges and, as a fun finale, teams perform their own advert!

Bonus points can be earned by completing additional fun team games such as a quiz on the ice cream industry and a “name that tune” of popular songs performed in the style of ice cream van chimes!

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding and after a tasting session (it’s a tough job) the winning team will be awarded with the coveted silver scoop award!
